In my role as Creative Designer & Web Media Manager for the Brigham Research Institute, I have designed and creative directed materials for more than 500 events over the past decade. As part of my job, I am responsible for creative directing each event and then designing the materials. I work closely with a design co-op in a mentor capacity as well. Past students have gone on to design positions at Nike, Puma, Reebok and Saucony.
I use Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator daily, with a few other programs (Camtasia, Premiere, Clip Studio Paint) depending on the needs of a project.
A small event entails designing digital, print and web materials, including digital flatscreen advertisements, powerpoint templates, email newsletter banners, short programs, posters & other signage. Larger events include a broader scope of design projects, including escalator wraps, stair ‘mural’ wraps & floor signage.
One of my major projects involves preparing an annual report that requires data visualization. I create infographics and help copy edit the report, anywhere from 28-36 pages, depending on the year. Participating in the Cambridge Science Festival has involved designing a coloring book for children at our event.
